Erik earned his Master's Degree of Public Affairs Degree from the University of Missouri on May 12, 2017. During his studies he was honored with many awards that recognized his experience and leadership. Erik's honors include the Missouri Veteran Service Award, the MU Chancellor's Award for University Leadership, and the Gov. Mel Carnahan Fellowship, among others.

Anthes, who commanded Company E, 1st Battalion, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division was recognized July 25 during the Corps' annual Transportation Ball in Virginia.
